The City of Dexter has developed a comprehensive trail plan to begin construction of trails for the city. The TAP funds are provided through the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). Construction of trail projects is to provide safe routes for non-drivers, including children, older adults, and individuals with disabilities to access daily needs. Construction of these trail projects are to improve the ability of students to walk and bicycle to school, and to access other facilities and areas in the City of Dexter. The City of Dexter trail plan is one way to provide access to or between existing community investments, or other mobility options, and propose a direct connection to important community destinations.
Currently the City of Dexter has been awarded the MODOT TAP (Transportation Alternative Program) Grant. The grant is a 80/20 match grant. The City of Dexter is in the middle of the process for Dexter Trail Phase #3 which is orange on the trail plan.
